Hope you can help me. I have an original DVD copy of Richard Burns Rally which ran OK in Windows 7, but I can't get it to run in Windows 10. Things I have tried:- 1. Load the files in a separate folder C:/Richard Burns Rally.
Reloaded Backup CD Richard Burns Rally v1.0 ENG.
Run in compatability modes for both Windows 7 and Windows XP. Set the game screen resolution to match my monitor (1920 x 1080). I got an error message 'Access Denied - Log in as administrator and try again.' (even though my user account already has administrator privileges).
So then I enabled the real Administrator account, logged into it and tried to run RBR. Now I got no error message, but just the Busy icon for a couple of seconds, then it reverted to the normal desktop wallpaper. I logged in again as myself and got the same result - no error message, no anything. Can anyone tell me what I should try now? Hope you can help me. Did you try to right click on the icon and click on run as administrator? I had many issue with RBR intro.exe that i rename as intro.old Make sure patch 1.02 is installed as well. Then i remember having issues with directx9 that could be anothe potential problems Due other collateral issues, I am happpily back to windows 7 and no plan for now to upgrade to 10.

As for DirectX9, I was going to try loading it, but according to Microsoft Windows 10 already has all the features of DirectX9, plus some more.
So I didn't bother. In general, Windows 10 seems an OK operating system (not like Windows 8), but I can see the attraction of staying with Windows 7 for as long as possible.

I agree with most of the other posts. RBR without mods is just unreal hard and not good. The NGP(NextGenerationPhysics) Mod makes It a lot better and it feels more like DR when you see the cars handle. But there are a lot of differences. Sound is nearly unbearable in RBR.when the cars start to slide I start to cringe;). DRs sound is great.
